What does it take to be a successful clinical research participant?

In an effort to make some extra money I am looking into participating (guinea pig?) in clinical research studies. Having been rejected by a few because of my answers to their initial questions, I wondered what tips might provide a more success. Obviously, having the condition they are studying or in the case of "healthy" participants not having this or that. I have discovered that saying you are a smoker generally is not the right answer. The criteria is very particular and if you pass the initial phone interview success on making it through to the end depends on this or that. What does it take to be a successful clinical research participant?
A good guinea pig, huh? Tell'em your a junkie and your'e up for anything. How about you get a job? That seems more respectable than testing some new hormone extracted from an elephants balls. But hey, what do I know?

Best of Luck!!!

What topic about piano is easy and good to research on?

I am doing a research paper about piano and I need a research question to research on. I chose piano because I learning how to play it but I do not know what to research about. What topic about piano is easy and good to research on?
How about the topic of how the piano revolutionized music? Simple, yet powerful.

The piano is such a versatile instrument and can be used to play an infinite number of music genres. Renaissance, Classical, Baroque, Jazz, even rock and hip-hop. You can go into detail about the different styles of playing for each genre. Man I really want to read ths resarch paper now. What topic about piano is easy and good to research on?
The nicest topic would be a history of a piano.

I think the first very instrument is called 'harpsicord' - then it evolves to piano.

Nowadays we have digital pianos.

You can compare the different features and sound quality of those pianos from age to age. Not to mention the key range and the pedalling as well :)

What is a good medical/research internship opportunity for someone living in Maryland?

I just did a research project involving cancer cells this past year for my science fair project. My partner and I won our school competition and runners up in the county. I would like to continue to do high intensity research projects and was wondering where some good internship opportunities might be in Maryland. Thanks! What is a good medical/research internship opportunity for someone living in Maryland?
You'll have to decide what you think is worth while researching. You've already covered cancer cells. What about breast cancer and new treatments which involve the cellular level? If you visit different hospitals, you can ask them re what research proojects they're covering over the summer. I'm sorry that I don't know of any research projects which are available in Maryland.

What animal would be good for an animal behavior research paper?

i have to do a research paper on animal behavior. one problem is that i don't know what animal i should do it on. i can't a lion because someone has already taken that one, whats another good one? What animal would be good for an animal behavior research paper?
Cetaceans are highly intelligent and social creatures and are a good candidate for research paper on behavioral ecology.

Since there has been a lot of research done on cetacean behaviors, especially in species such as the Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) and the Killer whale (Orcinus orca), it shouldn't be hard to find information to write about.

One particularly interesting behavior that Odontocetes (toothed whales) have is called echolocation or "bio-sonar" and the hypotheses regarding the evolution and adaptive significance of this behavior are very interesting.

Good luck with your paper. What animal would be good for an animal behavior research paper?

What percentage of medical research is privately funded and what is publicly funded?

How involved is the private sector in funding medical research as opposed to publicly funded research? What percentage of medical research is privately funded and what is publicly funded?
A substantial majority is privately funded, largely by Big Pharma, and the percentage is consistently growing. Last I looked, it was about two thirds.
