How can I contact and connect with a professor for faculty research for graduate school?

What is the best way to hook up with a professor in regards to research for a graduate program (specifically masters in mechanical engineering)? I am currently an undergraduate but would like to connect with a professor at another school in hopes to become involved with research for attaining my master鈥檚 degree. Goals are acceptance to the university, financial aid/scholarship, and positive networking/resource connections. Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer. How can I contact and connect with a professor for faculty research for graduate school?
Send an email, let them know you are interested in the Masters program, specifically interested in their research. Ask questions about what they do, plan to do over the next few years, and if they are taking on graduate students.

Also, ask your current professors how they would like to be approached in this situation.
