As you can probably tell, i don't really understand what exactly undergraduate research is.Are you allowed to do undergraduate research outside of your university?
If you already knew you wanted to study astrophysics, you probably shouldn't have picked a school that doesn't offer it. Do you mean the University of South Florida or the University of San Fransisco? Yes, you can do research off campus, but it's a lot easier to get one of those positions if you've already done research on campus. Look into REU programs (research experience for undergraduates); those applications are due in February. I'd recommend the SARA REU program if you meant FL; they have several in Florida and the surrounding states. And in the mean time, try to get some experience in your own department, even if it's not the exact field you're interested in. If you're lucky, you might find a professor willing to let you work in their lab next summer even with limited experience.
