I am currently visiting the University of Canterbury
in Christchurch NZ which is a little way's off from
59th and 10th. So, I am going to forward your email
to a doctoral student working in my lab. I think that
he will be able provide you with experience collecting
data and helping him out in other ways with a project
comparing various graphical displays of quantitative
data to see which people find easier to interpret.
It might be helpful for the two of you to talk to one
another and then see how it goes from there.
what is meant by this portion of the email below????
he will be able provide you with experience collecting

It probably means that you are going to be using the computer to input data (i.e., numbers) and create a variety of graphs (probably in a program like SPSS or possibly even Excel). You will be doing this under the direction of a doctoral student.
Sounds like their research involves determining what types of graphs are superior, as far as accurately communicating the information you want to communicate. You may also get to take part in conducting the research (e.g., giving the different graph types to the participants, scoring the results).
Best of luck,
~M~Research??????
I can't figure out what you are asking.
