Do you think children should understand what child abuse is?

Growing up in a small town in Ontario, Canada, I didn't know so much about the world because I was locked up for years. My family is part of a cult; my father is the prophet, my mother is a religious teacher and my brother and I were religious tutors. All children were home schooled and families were banned from leaving our town to see the "devil's world" therefore, we were ignorant about the outside world. We didn't know what was right or what was wrong in terms of abuse.

I was raped, molested, physically and emotionally abused while thinking that it was all "normal" because every child, particularly every girl, suffered from these punishments in our community. After a natural disaster in our town, we were forced to move to London, Ontario, Canada. There I was, taking public school classes and learning so much about the world. Due to my new friends and the internet, I then realized that my childhood was much different then others. I didn't know what "abuse" was until I researched it myself; my parents brainwashed me thinking that my life was "normal" so I wonder, what would happen to my life if I didn't moved to the city or researched this topic? Why don't elementary schools teach children their rights? What if a child was being abuse their whole life thinking that it was normal/okay while in most countries, they have laws that are clearly against child abuse? Do you get my point?
