I have Andropause....now what?

I have been doing some research tonight on my low libido and found out that I most definitely have Andropause. Everything described was what I am currently going thru. I am 39, married for 18 years and have been experience problems that I couldnt explain until now. So, now that I know I have Andopause, what can I start taking? Testosterone pills? What is next for me so I can get better? THANKS!!!I have Andropause....now what?
You may not have testosterone deficiency. Are you depressed? Overweight? On medications? Poor diet, no exercise? Sleep deprived? Stressed? Got a bad varicocele? There are lots of things can affect T levels.

Go to the doctor. You should be given a testosterone blood test. Get the test done as close to 8am as possible when T levels are naturally highest.

After that, see what the doc says and you might need referred to an endocrinologist or some other expert to look for possible causes and remedies.

If nothing is found, your best bet is to improve diet, sleep, exercise, and quit all bad habits like smoking, drinking, and illegal drugs.
I'm not asking this with the intention of trying to be funny so, if I come across as such, then I do apologize.

Assuming it's more a personality concern than a physical performance-related one, does just watching pornography/reading it help you at all?

I just ask as you say you've been married for 18 years, maybe you're just in the habit of doing the same sexual routine over and over and it's unconsciously now having an adverse reaction?

I'm certainly not suggesting any notion of infidelity, nor would I insult you in such a way, I'm just suggesting to you that maybe you need to find something new/appealing to do like a new sexual activity or going to unfamiliar surroundings? Maybe you just need something new (sexually - like a change of scenery or an activity) to stimulate your sexual inclination?

I've never heard of the word 'Andropause' before, thankyou for teaching me that (though I hope to never need it).I have Andropause....now what?
You do not know until you are tested!! There are very many problems that a man can have sim symptoms
I suffer with hypogonadism. That is where the testicles reduce or stop producing "T" Mine is caused from radiation treatment for cancer plus the fact that I am 55 yrs. The male body reduces production as we age, the recent ads on TV selling "T" boosters and the such are bunk, that stuff is not more than what you get in a premium vitamin, per my Endocrinologist.
The symptoms for low "T" are many to none. I had chronic fatigue, loss of muscle mass, low libido, excessive middle weight (belly)
Many other unseen physical factors such as hard to control cholesterol problems, circulation problems, depression, a big bearing on overall cardiac health the list goes on.
THE MAIN REASON you should consult a specialist before therapy.
Some other causes are regular narcotic use whether medical or illicit and other drug abuses like cocaine and amphetamines.
For a proper diagnosis the levels must be taken which is a simple blood draw but the lab work is expensive, close to 2K.
This nothing to play with and attempt to use just because of some symptoms, these symptoms can be caused by many other factors not just low "T"
AND if low "T" is properly diagnosed there is ONLY ONE treatment and that is testosterone.
The preferred is T gel that is applied daily to chest and shoulders or a bi weekly injection.
I am monitored every 90 days because use T supplement has some deadly side effects.
There is no PILL it is either topical gel or bi-weekly injections
Your testicles will shrink dramatically when you start Hormone Replacement Therapy " HRT"

It is expensive, mine is 695.00 a month but covered by my insurance.

This is why the pharmas are beginning to advertise their products. Selling something a lot don't need. Go to the Merck Manual on line for more info.
I hope I have helped you.
It is totally natural for your testosterone levels to drop as you age. Some things you can do to counteract this are: Eating peanut butter (peanuts act similarly to testosterone precursors), exercise- especially lifting heavier weights or doing exercises which work multiple muscle groups at once, increase your fiber intake, spend more time having sex, make sure you get enough sleep, have sex in the morning, snack on a handful of nuts, and reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption (keep it under three drinks).I have Andropause....now what?
At 39 you have surely seen the evolution of the internet. You are also old enough to know that much if not most of the medical info on the net is suspicious at best and more often developed to encourage you to spend money on useless crap.

Don't try to diagnose serious illnesses online. Online sources will always tell you that you are sick and need to buy treatment, Use caution with "real life" doctors as well. There is an old saying, "to a hammer, everything looks like a nail", unfortunately most doctors act like the hammer and try to treat every patient complaint as a nail. Most health issues resolve themselves and/or are much less severe that origionally perceived.

Before you start up on insanely dangerous hormones or other chemicals stop and rethink. Try getting healthier with a better diet and exercise. Yes that's a more difficult prescription than a pill but will most likely yield better and more long lasting results.

Good luck
