Komen's foundation is about fighting breast cancer. PP offers services for women's health, like breast cancer screening. I'm glad Komen gave the funding back. The funds were for both research and treatment. Planned Parenthood does a lot of mammograms, which is how breast cancer is commonly found. The earlier that cancer (of any sort) is detected, the sooner it can be treated, and the sooner it's detected and treated, the better the chances of patient survival.

Planned Parenthood is the ONLY affordable health care option available to many women.
On the other hand, it appears that defunding Planned Parenthood was a decision that was made because of someone's religious beliefs. It backfired. And now the Komen foundation has made both sides very, very mad.
They don't raise money just for research but also for services. Planned parenthood is one of many service providers.
